Thermal conductivity of steel: High thermal conductivity can reduce the heating degree of the metal on the surface of the mold, thereby reducing the thermal fatigue tendency of steel.

It is generally believed that the thermal conductivity of steel is related to the carbon content. When the carbon content is high, the thermal conductivity is low. When the carbon content is too low, the hardness and strength of the steel will decrease. Therefore, medium carbon steel is usually used as hot work mold in production.

Impact of the critical point of steel: Generally, the higher the critical point of the steel, the lower the thermal fatigue tendency of the steel. Therefore, the thermal fatigue resistance of the mesh is generally improved by adding alloy elements Cr, W, and Si to increase the critical point of the mesh.

Because the working temperature and load properties vary widely, and it is impossible for any kind of mold steel to have high thermal strength, wear resistance, fracture resistance, thermal fatigue resistance, etc. at the same time.

When selecting, we can only focus on the key performance requirements of the mold to ensure priority, and then select materials taking into account other properties.
