Metallurgical Product Description
Alloy cored wire is a product used in steelmaking to purify the form of steel inclusions.
The cored wire is to crush various additives (deoxidizer, desulfurizer, modifier, alloy, etc.) to be added to the molten steel or molten iron into a certain particle size, and then use a cold-rolled low-carbon steel strip to form a strip with Composite materials of any length.

Product Advantages
- It is conducive to adjusting and controlling the content of easily oxidized elements and trace elements, which can greatly increase the alloy yield, reduce smelting costs, shorten smelting time, and accurately control ingredients.
- It plays the role of purifying molten steel and partially changing the nature and shape of inclusions, improving the quality of molten steel and improving the casting state.
- There are two types of cored wires: internally drawn type and external type. The mechanical equipment required for wire feeding is simple and reliable and takes up less space. In particular, the internally drawn cored wire is more suitable for use in narrow places.
Manufacture And Use
Core-clad wire technology is an out-of-furnace refining method developed in the 1980s based on spray metallurgy technology. Cored wire is suitable for steelmaking and casting.
When used in steelmaking, it can purify the form of steel inclusions, improve the castability of molten steel, improve the performance of steel, significantly increase the yield of alloys, reduce alloy consumption, reduce steelmaking costs, and have significant economic benefits.
Applications
The core-covered wire is made of strip-shaped steel strips wrapped with alloy powder. According to the different alloy powders, it can be divided into pure calcium cored wire, calcium silicon cored wire, silicon manganese calcium wire, calcium silicon barium wire, barium aluminum wire, aluminum calcium wire, calcium iron wire, etc.
In the smelting industry, the quality of molten steel is improved by feeding it into cored wire.
The cored wire can more effectively add smelting materials to molten steel or molten iron during the steelmaking or casting process, effectively avoiding reactions with air and slag, and improving the absorption rate of smelting materials.
It is widely used as a deoxidizer, desulfurizer, and alloy additive. It can change the shape of inclusions in molten steel and effectively improve the quality of steelmaking and casting products.
Calcium iron core wire:
Calcium iron core wire is a method for deoxidizing molten steel in steelmaking and is suitable for steelmaking enterprises. Calcium-iron cored wire is a core material mixed with 30-35% metallic calcium particles and iron powder. Strip steel is wound to make calcium iron core wire.
Advantages of calcium iron cored wire: It is suitable for refining molten steel, can remove residual oxygen and inclusions in molten steel, has good fluidity of molten steel, and can reduce refining costs.
High calcium cored wire:
(1) In the production of low-carbon and low-silicon steel, high-calcium cored wire is used for calcium treatment, which can reduce the temperature drop by 2.6°C on average, reduce the silicon increment by 0.001%, shorten the wire feeding time by 1 minute, and increase the output by 2.29 times compared with iron-calcium wire.
(2) The feeding amount of iron-calcium wire is 3 times that of high-calcium wire. If converted into the same calcium content for comparison, the feeding amount of iron-calcium wire is 2.45 times that of high-calcium wire.
(3) High-calcium cored wire is used to process molten steel. The level of inclusions in the steel is equivalent to that of the fed iron-calcium wire, which can meet product requirements.
Calcium silicon cored wire:
The main raw material for producing calcium silicon cored wire is calcium silicon alloy. Crushed calcium silicate powder is used as the core material, and the outer skin is a cold-rolled steel strip. Calcium silicon cored wire is pressed by a professional crimping machine. During this process, the steel sheath needs to be filled so that the core material is evenly filled and does not leak.
Carbon core wire:
Carbon-cored welding wire is used to add carbon in steelmaking and is used to fine-tune the carbon content of molten steel, which is beneficial to the control of the carbon content of molten steel and can reduce production costs.
Carbon wire features:
- The carbon yield is more than 90% and stable.
- Reduce production cost, which is lower than the cost of currently used toner core wire.
- Extend product storage time.
Alloy cored wire is suitable for deoxidation and desulfurization in steelmaking. It can improve the properties of steel and improve the plasticity, impact toughness, and fluidity of molten steel. It also has the characteristics of directly entering the molten steel to melt and distribute it evenly.
