Ferro Silicon Nitride Lump

Ferro Silicon Nitride Lump is a Fe-Si-N based alloy material used for steelmaking nitrogen alloying, special steel production and furnace addition. Compared with ferro silicon nitride powder used in refractory formulas, lump and granular material are more suitable for direct charging, alloy batching and controlled metallurgical feeding. We supply ferro silicon nitride lump in 3–5mm, 3–10mm and 10–50mm sizes according to furnace feeding requirements. Si3N4, N, Si, Fe, Al+Ca, lump size, packing and export documents can be confirmed according to your order standard.

Product Introduction

Ferro Silicon Nitride Lump is a Fe-Si-N based alloy material used for steelmaking nitrogen alloying, special steel production and furnace addition. Compared with ferro silicon nitride powder used in refractory formulas, lump and granular material are more suitable when your process needs direct charging, alloy batching and controlled metallurgical feeding.

We supply ferro silicon nitride lump with typical Si₃N₄ 70–80%, N 28–33%, Si 47–52% and Fe 12–16%. It can provide both nitrogen and silicon contribution in steelmaking, especially when your production needs a nitrogen-bearing alloy material instead of fine refractory powder.

You can choose 3–5mm, 3–10mm or 10–50mm material according to your furnace feeding method. If your steel plant has specific requirements for nitrogen content, silicon content, particle size, impurity tolerance or packing method, we can match the material according to your order standard.

Why Use Ferro Silicon Nitride Lump

Ferro silicon nitride lump is mainly used when your production needs nitrogen addition in a ferro alloy form. In steelmaking, nitrogen may be required for certain steel grades, but the feeding method must match the furnace route, target composition and expected recovery.

Compared with powder material, lump or granular ferro silicon nitride is easier to handle during furnace addition and alloy batching. It can reduce powder leakage and dust problems, making it more practical for plants that use bulk feeding, manual batching or fixed charging systems.

This product should not be confused with 200 mesh ferro silicon nitride powder for refractory additives. Powder form is better for taphole clay, castable and refractory formulas. Lump form is more suitable for steelmaking nitrogen alloying and metallurgical addition.

Product Applications in Real Production

Steelmaking Nitrogen Alloying

You can use ferro silicon nitride lump when your steelmaking process needs nitrogen input through a ferro alloy material. It is suitable for production routes where nitrogen is part of the alloy design and needs to be added in a controlled way.

In actual use, your team should calculate the addition amount according to nitrogen target, expected recovery, silicon contribution and furnace practice. The material should be selected by chemical content and feeding method, not only by product name.

Special Steel Production

For special steel production, ferro silicon nitride lump can support nitrogen and silicon adjustment when the steel grade requires controlled Fe-Si-N input. Granular or lump material is practical for plants that use direct furnace addition or batch alloying.

If your process has strict requirements for nitrogen control, the delivered batch data should be reviewed before use. Nitrogen content, silicon content, particle size and impurity tolerance all affect the final selection.

Furnace Addition and Alloy Batching

Ferro silicon nitride lump is suitable for furnace addition and alloy batching when your plant does not want to use fine powder. Granular sizes such as 3–5mm and 3–10mm can be used for smaller batching systems, while 10–50mm lump can be considered for wider furnace feeding.

The suitable size should follow your feeding method. Too many fines may cause dust and handling loss, while oversized material may not match your batching system. That is why size confirmation should be completed before shipment.

Ferro Silicon Nitride Lump vs Powder

Ferro silicon nitride lump and powder are used in different processes. You should not select them only by chemical composition.

Powder ferro silicon nitride is usually used in refractory formulas, especially taphole clay, castable and high-temperature refractory additives. Its value comes from fine dispersion and formula mixing.

Lump or granular ferro silicon nitride is more suitable for steelmaking and metallurgical addition. Its value comes from easier handling, furnace feeding and reduced powder loss during charging.

If your process is refractory mixing, powder form is usually more practical. If your process is steelmaking nitrogen alloying, lump or granular form should be reviewed first.
