Ferrosilicon zirconium (FeSiZr) is an alloy composed of iron, silicon, and zirconium. It is used as an additive in the production of steel and cast iron to improve the mechanical properties of the metal.

The addition of zirconium to ferrosilicon results in a material with increased strength, ductility, and resistance to oxidation and corrosion.

Manufacture And Use

Ferrosilicon is usually packed in steel drums or plastic bags, with a net weight of 25 kg or 50 kg per bag. Should be stored in a dry, cool, well-ventilated area away from incompatible materials.

Applications

FeSiZr is particularly suitable for producing high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) steels, which are used in a variety of applications including automotive parts, pipes, and construction materials.

FeSiZr is also used to produce ductile iron, which has better mechanical properties than traditional gray cast iron. In ductile iron, the addition of zirconium promotes the formation of a spheroidal graphite structure, thereby improving the ductility and toughness of the material.
