Silicon Metal 1502

Silicon Metal 1502 is produced by the carbothermic reaction of silica (quartz) in an electric arc furnace using carbon electrodes where the temperature in the main reaction zone of temperatures exceeds 1800ºC. Metallic silicon, also known as crystalline silicon or industrial silicon, is mainly used as an additive for non-iron-based alloys. Industrial silicon is also used as an alloying agent for silicon steel with strict requirements and as a deoxidizer for smelting special steels and non-ferrous alloys. After a series of processes, industrial silicon can be drawn into single-crystal silicon for use in the electronics industry.

Product Advantages

Manufacture And Use

The classification of metallic silicon is usually based on the content of the three main impurities of iron, aluminum, and calcium contained in the metallic silicon component. According to the content of iron, aluminum, and calcium in metallic silicon, metallic silicon can be divided into different grades such as 553, 441, 411, 421, 3303, 3305, 2202, 2502, 1501, and 1101.

 

Applications

Metallic silicon is used to produce organic silicon, prepare high-purity semiconductor materials, and prepare alloys for special purposes.

(1) Produce silicone such as silicone rubber, silicone resin, and silicone oil.

(2) Manufacturing high-purity semiconductors.
