Metallurgical Product Description

Vanadium nitrogen alloy is a new alloy additive that can replace ferrovanadium for the production of microalloyed steel. The addition of vanadium nitride to steel can improve the comprehensive mechanical properties of the steel such as strength, toughness, ductility and thermal fatigue resistance, and make the steel have good weldability. To achieve the same strength, adding vanadium nitride saves 30-40% of the vanadium addition, thereby reducing costs.

Structure introduction

Vanadium nitride has two crystal structures: one is V3N, hexagonal crystal structure, extremely hard, with a microhardness of about 1900HV, and an unmeasurable melting point; the other is VN, with a density of 6.13 and a relative molecular mass of 64.95. A face-centered cubic crystal structure, The microhardness is about 1520HV and the melting point is 2360 degrees. They all have high wear resistance.

Taking the construction industry as an example, the new third-level steel bars produced using vanadium-nitrogen alloying technology not only enhance the safety and earthquake resistance of the building due to its increased strength, but can also save 10% to 15% compared to the use of second-level steel bars. of steel. By this alone, our country can use about 7.5 million tons less steel bars every year, correspondingly reduce the mining of about 12.4 million tons of iron concentrate, save 6.6 million tons of coal, and save 3.3 million tons of related auxiliary raw materials. At the same time, it also significantly reduces carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide. The emission of waste gas has the dual benefits of resource conservation and environmental protection.

Production

Vanadium-nitrogen alloy is a blank made of vanadium pentoxide, carbon powder, activator and other raw materials. Under normal pressure and nitrogen atmosphere protection, it reacts at a high temperature of 1500 to 1800°C to form a vanadium-nitrogen alloy. The key process equipment is a continuous atmosphere push-plate high-temperature furnace, which uses electric heating elements such as silicon-molybdenum rods to obtain heat sources.

Application

Vanadium-nitrogen alloy can be used in structural steel, tool steel, pipe steel, steel bars and cast iron. When vanadium-nitrogen alloy is used in high-strength low-alloy steel, it can effectively micro-alloy vanadium and nitrogen at the same time, promote the precipitation of carbon, vanadium, and nitrogen compounds in the steel, and more effectively play the role of sedimentation strengthening and grain refinement.

Features

It is more effective in strengthening and refining grains than ferrovanadium.

Save the amount of vanadium added. Compared with ferrovanadium, vanadium-nitrogen alloy can save 20-40% vanadium under the same strength conditions.

The yield rate of vanadium and nitrogen is stable, reducing the performance fluctuation of steel.

Easy to use and less loss. It is packed in high-strength moisture-proof packaging and can be put directly into the furnace.
